Do any of you know of a school or teacher to teach me elementary Mandarin based around Luohu on Wednesdays/Sundays? Shenzhen university is too far for me to travel. I'd appreciate any help.

Alright, boy, my answer is: few schools are up to such an order, and in Luohu demand is not exactly class-filling.

You can try SunMoon Training Centre (Shanmu), Master Mu from Shandong has teachers that could do this trick; his training centre offers Cantonese for migrants from the North, but he might be willing to accommodate you.
You will find his school in the, I forgot the name of that hotel, but it's at the north end of Beijing Nanlu just where it joins Shennan Donglu; it's on the west side, next to the overpass. Shanmu's office/training centre should be on the 4th floor from the rear entrance (stairwell in the small alley behind the hotel)
The head office used to be in the Pharmaceutical Building on Shennan Donglu, about one km east from that hotel, 7th floor (in the groundfloor is a McDonald's).
