During my recent stay in hospital I was surprised to see that out of the 500+ channels on the sat tv there were no less than 4 devoted EXCLUSIVELY to camels.
Well, why not ? I have been in societies where males are obsessed with cars or football. An interest in camels is probably quite harmless. |

And quite environment-friendly, too. Not the camels, though. Our local zoo has put up a board which says, 'The camel bites' and he looks mean, really. But camel racing has its flop side, they use young children smuggled in illegally from Asian countries, much like the flesh trade,as jockeys. And who knows they are not smearing chilli paste on the poor camel's orifices? |

An absolute scandal, but I think they've stopped it now. |

Any way, I believe automobile racing, rallies and stuff like that are the worst challenges to continued human (and other more innocent) inhabitation on earth. It promotes the most vulgar display of wealth, senseless spending, aggressive behaviour in young minds and affords the caligulas of the automobile industry unlimited splurging. If we do a count world over of young people permanently decapacitated by foolhardy ambitions of becoming the swiftest, you can see it's worse than WW II. |

'Character is destiny'.
Critical opinion of Michael Henchard in Thomas Hardy's 'The Mayor of Casterbridge'. |

What kind of nonsense is this?
I fail to see how car races are the "worst challenges to human inhabitation on earth", if a challenge at all. If you are referring to emissions, then the amount is negligible. There is no comparison between the emissions from car races and the emissions from passenger cars, trucks, factories, ACs, etc.
All the rich sportspeople on the planet exhibit a vulgar display of wealth, not just car racers. Tennis players, golf players, footballers, rugby players, etc. Aggressive behaviour? I have seen that a lot in tennis players and footballers, but never in car racers. Unlimited splurging? Again, not limited to car racers in the least.
And the last sentence is just about the worst hyperbole I have ever read. Any anyway, if someone loses a limb or becomes paralyzed from car racing, why does it bother you? They sure aren't complaining. |

The concept of having a ' royal blood' camel is very common in the gulf. Owning Camels (or the Desert Boat as named by Arabs) is very deeply rooted in the sentiment of the Arabs in the gulf and elsewhere. |
Well, freesoul, I do not think owning a camel is deeply rooted in the sentiment of the Arabs elsewhere! Take for example, the Arabs of North Africa, Syria, or Lebanon, I do not think camels are very deeply rooted in their sentiments, like the American or British which have strong sentiment to cats and dogs!
Camels are created by God so that we benefit from their milk, meat, and transportation! The Arabs in the Gulf who use camels for racing and 'beauty' competition are minority, and represent only the rich people like princes and shiekhs of Emirates and other big tribes.
Now, have you heard about 'royal blood' cats and dogs in this planet? |

I must say that I agree with Trap on this one... excellent hyperbole. NASCAR never knew its real power at world destruction by chasing each other in a circle.
But I did love the new construct: permanently decapacitated ... I first read it as permanently decapitated... and wondered if any decapitations were reversible? And all this came from the mere mention of TV channels of camel racing.
I love this board!!

Trapezius, Do you have a son who would think, dream and love his parents, siblings and fellow human beings, and spend resources of our dying planet in an austere fashion rather than being punk?
I have one, and, fortunately, he tries to be gentle as much as possible.
My best regards.

^ Completely irrelevant.
I thoroughly refuted what you said about auto racing. And if you have nothing to add, we are done! |

I feel closer to the would-be-bedouins with their Camel TV than to the airheads who are into Formula 1 ! |

I am not into F1, but I am not going to let it be maligned without reason.
And Scot dude, of course you feel closer to the bedouins and their camels... you can't even drive in this country! |
