Hi;

I am an EU passport holder from France and I want to go to work in Spain by the beginning of next school year. Right I am in Peru. My wife is Peruvian. I thought that being married to a EU citizen would entitle her to a visa without a problem. However, after having read the Spanish consulate infos about types of visa, it seems that I will need to be a permanent resident of Spain for a minimum of one year before she can apply for that visa to rejoin me. I can't imagine living without her for a year! I don't know if I read carefully or not. So,if anyone of you has any experience about this kind of situation and can sheer me up, let me know

Thanks gerard

The current economic downturn is Spain is probably the worst since the early/mid nineties so it's a pretty poor time to go there.

Also please don't take this the wrong way, but sentences like the one above suggest an Upper Intermediate level of English. Good enough for many markets but not competitive enough for a market like Spain, one of the most favoured places for native English speakers. If you send cover letters with sentences like that to Spanish employers (many of whom will be native English speakers trying to make a go of it running academies in Spain) your already slim chances will vanish automatically. Spain and similar markets like Italy have hundreds of native English speakers already on the ground so there are slim pickings for anyone with a less than perfect level.
