Ajarn, a MATESOL is my plan B, but I have put a lot of thought into it. I would absolutely 100% prefer a non-distance option. To answer your question, from my perspective and research, I would probably be most interested in SIT in Vermont, or MIIS in California.

I also like the look of the San Francisco State program and have met a number of graduates.

If I were to stay in Japan, I would go to Columbia Teacher's College in Tokyo, as again, I have met a number of graduates or current students there who seem very happy with it. |

Are you talking about purely online schools without any actual brick & mortar campuses, or all-distance course degrees from 'real' universities?
The latter is certainly accepted in Korea.
Just wanted to clarify. |
Well I don't work in Korea but there is movement to oly non-online degrees all over asia.
The examples I was thinking of refere to getting a work permit and teachers permit in Thailand. The people in question had onlone degrees from genuine uni's, but they never went to the building. Only onlone study. That seemed to be the problerm |

For Master's Degrees?
Again, I have yet to see acceptance of online Master's degrees from accredited brick and mortar unis be a problem in Asia. |

I suppose it depends upon whom you teach on behalf of rather than the country you are teaching in.
In my case, I have both an MA in Education and an M.Ed. degree in Applied Linguistics from the OU and I have been teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) for almost five years in China at an outfit that prepares school-leavers and university graduates and senior year students to undertake first and postgraduate taught degree study in England.
It is also an approved Cambridge examinations centre and it also caters for Chinese students undertaking A-levels over two years, just like in the UK.
Hence, if you could land a job like that, your OU studies should prove well worthwhile. I know that mine have proven well worthwhile! |
