May I ask, what qualifications and experience enabled you to secure your appointment at your university in the Middle East? What salary (gross/nett.) did you start earning with those quals & exp. |

Yes, you really need to take some time reading here to focus your question. But, basically you need an MA in TEFL/Applied Linguistics and at least 3 years of related experience - post MA. By that it means teaching Academic English at university level. Reading/writing experience is a plus. (conversations class will barely even count)
Once one has the proper credentials, in the Gulf, the pay is from US$2500-5000 to start depending on years of experience and the particular university and country.
There is no gross/net... it is all tax-free. Plus there is the normal benefit package of free furnished housing, tickets, medical, gratuity, and 45-60 days of paid holiday in the summer.
