Does anyone know anything about Pacific Link? I am thinking about getting my TEFL certification there. If anyone has worked there I would also like to know how they are as employers. I'm just trying to avoid scams or any type of bad situations.
Thanks,

This is a relatively new edition to a relatively new company. I don't know anything about them and it's hard to say how credible they are. Try registering for their course and see what kind of dates are thrown back at you.
$1400? What is Apollo offering? |

Apollo's CELTA course is $1500. I registered with Pacific Link, but the process was extremely simple, and nothing like that of Apollo where an applicant has to perform a series of tasks just to be accepted. I suppose Pacific Link is in real need of having people in their program as they seemed really eager to have me join ASAP. I'm in a wheelchair so I can't just do any one that I choose. I can get certified here in the States and have financial aid cover most of the cost. I believe the course here is excellent, but I worry about the recognition of the certificate overseas even though they are recognized by the British Council. If it is worth it the long run, I would be better off paying for it myself just to get a well-known certificate. |

This TEFL course will be a complete waste of time unless you work for Pacific Link. It is not accredited by a single educational organisation. However, the TEFL Programme Director will ensure that it provides the best TEFL programme in the industry, see below. This means nothing, what a joke. Why do prospective TEFL teachers keep enquiring about which TEFL course to take? Do some research and you will find that the only course to enroll in is the CELTA. Don't waste your time, effort or money on any other course.
FROM PL WEBSITE
Parrish Robinson is our TEFL Program Director. He has a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri and is also TEFL Certified. He has extensive experience as a Teacher and Director of ESL programs from Beginner to Advanced levels in the U.S., Taiwan, China, and Vietnam. His expertise includes curriculum development and teacher training in addition to being an accomplished teacher of ESL. Parrish wrote and developed our TEFL Certification program which exceeds internationally recognized TEFL course standards. He will ensure that Pacific Link provides the best TEFL program in the industry and that graduates of our program are recognized as well trained ESL teachers. |

Personally, I would go for the CELTA, which is well-recognised. Otherwise you could be wasting your money with an unknown, unaccredited provider.
This is relevant at the moment, since teachers' credentials are becoming increasingly important in an ELT job market which is tightening up in many countries. |
