Whilst there seems to be always a helpful tip to watchout for certain schools because of their poor reputation, are there any tips about which schools with good reputations ?
After all, if there are so many "unqualified/qualified" teachers here who can make comments about this and that, have they been to every school they have commented on ?
Or is it just human nature that people like to look at the negatives instead of the positives.
Or is the ELT market just too big for the likes of me and you, and just have to accept it, for those who like to complain, well they just like to complain anyway ? For where there is bad, there is also good, right ? |

Many do not want to talk about their currently good situations, for fear of losing them to someone else.
Yes, it is human nature to complain more than boast about good things on these forums.
Yes, you just have to accept it.
JET itself is a good programme. Good pay, decent hours, a chance to learn about the public school system, sponsored visa, paid airfare, visa sponsorship, lots of support and supplemental services, no fear of being in charge of a class, and they recruit from abroad so you don't have to burn money coming here to look. It has its down sides, too, but you wanted the positive.
ECC, AEON, GEOS, and a few others biggies are not bad. They recruit from abroad, too, and some offer reduced airfares. Teaching formats are pre-planned, so the inexperienced have something to go by. Offices are usually near train stations, making it convenient to find/reach. Pay is fairly standard, and there are often bonuses. Plus there are many offices to choose from. And, they sponsor visas. Again, there are negatives.
If one is qualified for university work, I suggest checking out the "green list" of unis on www.debito.org . Your mileage may vary. |
