Hello
I moved to Kitakyushu about 10 days ago. I like my job and the people I work for, the only problem is that I can't find any Westerners to socialize with.
Does anybody know where I can meet other English Teachers in the Kitakyushu area? I just want somebody to go for a beer with!
Thanks,
Lindsay |

The major expat bars in Kokura are Xhela's (pronounced shay-lahs) and Lucky Moon, if I remember correctly. I neither hang out much with other westerners nor live in Kokura any more, so there may be other places now that I'm unaware of.
Not a bar obviously, but the International Centre (Kokusai Koryu Center 国際交流センター) about 10 mins up the hill from Yahata station is probably a good place to get to know other foreigners, particularly if you're interested in learning Japanese: they have Japanese (and other languages) conversation groups there. Most of the foreigners there are not westerners though.
Which part of Kitakyushu are you in? Hope this helps, send me a PM if you want any more precise info. |
