There seem to be a lot of recruiting websites out there that have flashy websites and pictures of teachers having fun etc. I put myself on the job ad board and lots of these guys are just begging for my attention.
What do you think? Avoid them like the plague and deal with the school itself?
This is all so confusing! |

I'm a proponent of searching out and then contacting schools themselves. However, it will be more time-consuming.
When dealing with a recruiter I would just be sure that everything they offer is in writing; also, I would ask them what kind of support network they have if your experience is a bad one.
Good luck! |

Deal with the schools themselves. Avoid recruiters as if they were plague-carriers, instead of merely blood-sucking vampires. |

I got my last EFL position through a recruiter. It was a great job and my recruiter was very cooperative and honest. If you're going to use a recruiter, I'd recommend getting a recommendation of one who is ethical. Do your research instead of just contacting any ol' recruiter. Yeah, there are a lot of blood suckers but you just have to use your instincts to weed them out. |

Certainly ignore the pictures of people having fun. Not that it doesn't happen, but this is a standard corporate advertising tool and should not be allowed to affect your analysis of the people or the offers. |

I have 2 friends who just got placed with footprints in Korea and so far everything's been good (only 2 weeks though). I had an interview with them (which I guess you have too, by now) and they seemed to know what they're doing. |
