Has anyone ever needed to use the Organisation of arbitration for Foreign experts' affairs in the State Bureau of Foreign experts ?
If so, do they treat matters fairly ? Or always side with the employer ?
I am having some bad problems with my employer breaching my contract
agreement.
If I speak out about it, they just go into a sulk.
Basically, I've been lied to ever since I came to work here in China, and now I feel my position is untenable.

Why don't you include some details? Details make the difference between, "I wanna kwit cause the water in my water kewler is warm and not cowld" and, "they're making me work 48 hours/wk in 10 different locations."

Two things about arbitration, it will not be expedient (by the time your case is heard, you'll be long gone...or dead); even if you win, you lose (if you were to win the case, you may get some money, but you'd no longer have your job).

Chances are that the school people will pay off the arbitrators to take their side. You'll lose.

Leave.

I have been down that road with some success. If you do contact the SAFEA in your locale, make sure you are dealing with the senior representitive. They can and will push the school to do something from my own personal experience.
good luck!

jamesmollo:

How did you get anyone to answer the phone? Did you have problems getting someone to cooperate? How long did it take you to find an English-speaking person?

My complaint went through Beijing and the outcome did not favor me at all. The person who actually called me back would not give her name, and she was THE NASTIEST person I have ever spoken to in my life.

I still suggest that one finish the term, get the h3ll out, then post a review of the school on one of the many school review websites. If you can't find one while you're in China, PM me and I'll send you an unblocked mirror url. With enough bad press out in the lands of the free, thery'll be able to attract only those who are already in-country, and that supply will run out in time.
