I have seen some of these points before in some contracts with others here...but i want to ask again.
Potential new Uni, offering one month vacation pay. I get 2 now, for both winter and summer.
Airfare, if i dont go international, its cut from 8000 to 4000. I just get cash now.
I personally think both of these suck!
Have I just been spoiled, or is this a new trend, or are they just being cheap???? |

one easy way around this: buy the international air ticket, present it to the school for reimbursement, get the money, cancel the ticket and pay a minimal penalty. you're good for about 90-95% of the ticket price depending on fare conditions. |

If you aren't returning to your "home", why should you receive return airfare? If you're receiving 4000rmb at the end of your contract for traveling expenses within China, or if you want upfront reimbursement then i can see why the school would be wary of partting with cash. My experience is that Chinese schools don't pay for traveling expenses for locating to another school. That's what your "travel allowance" paid during the holidays is for.**

I disagree. Every school that I have worked for has just paid a set amount for travel at the end of the contract. If the school is paying 8000RMB to the other teachers, then why should it be fair to receive only 4000RMB ? It should not matter how the money is spent, and I would only sigh a contract that specifies a set amount. |

An SAFEA contract stipulates RETURN airfare or round trip airfare. That's the way it is. |
