Has any one lived in Puebla recently? What are the cots like there? For example, food, renting a house, gasoline, etc. Also, to anyone who has worked in Mexico, how much does it cost to get an FM3? My employeer does not want to pay for mine, and I don't know if the extra expense is something I can afford. Thanks! |

If you find a school that will sponsor you you will need an FM3 visa, it costs about $1750 [pesos] plus incidental expenses for documentation that will run another several hundred pesos.

I have an FM-2 which costs me a little over $2,000 pesos per year. Costs of work visas have increased every year since I came to Mexico. The cost of an FM-3 may have gone up a bit since Mike's posting, but it should still be somewhere in the ball park. |

A year ago the FM-3 was 1575 (approx.) pesos. Puebla is an expensive city by Mexican standards. You'll need a salary of around 8,000 pesos per month if you don't want to live in squalor. |

You can live easily on 600 dollars a month anywhere in Latin America.

A salary of 8,000 pesos after taxes is just over 6,000 pesos: 600 dollars. In Puebla you will spend it all. |
