what is the best/cheapest way to travel within Japan?
i heard the bullet trains are rather expensive.
how about flights?

Flights are often cheaper that the bullet train, but still rather pricey. For long distance travel, the cheapest option is almost always to take a night bus. Not always the most comfortable option though.

ideally i would like a job in a smaller city but not too far from tokyo, or another larger city, say within 200km radius. how much would it cost approx, for a train ride or bus or anything?
