I've successfully completed CELTA in the U.S. However, I'm also interested in teaching children. Any recommendations for highly respected schools in Shanghai that pay a decent salary for an older American that is used to a comfortable lifestyle? This is my first job search for TEFL.

Are you aware you just made 5 different threads all saying the same thing. Cept in one you said you want to go to Guilin.....

I don't know what you mean by comfortable. I'm piss poor and i'm comfortable. I'll let you know though that my school just rejected a teacher because he was 58. Regardless or what you find though it is important that whatever your expectations are of living and working here, you should lower them considerably or just flat out remove them. Assume you're going to hell that way you're either not surprised at all when it is hell, or if it's not hell you'll be happy it's better than you thought. If you're teaching Kinders, it's probably going to be hell.

in my limited experience, adults are generally motivated, but often have unrealistic demands. Small classes are the norm in my experience.

Children or teenagers...expect low levels of motivation from most of them. Totally mixed levels from students who cant speak a word, to those who are fluent...classes of up to 60. Some of whom will sleep all lesson.

Its adults for me!
