Well two more teachers did not renew their contracts on the men's side. So if anyone is looking for a job, they are very short handed on the men's side. But apply at your own risk.
Rumors also have it that the director on the woman's side is either getting fired or resigning soon. People have seen her profile on various job websites, advertising that she is seeking a job as a director or ESL coordinator. In either case she is not very well liked amongst most of the female staff. I hope that if and when she leaves they will choose someone with better people and managerial skills. |

| I posted earlier on this thread that I had accepted a job at Interlink/AY and that I would be arriving soon. Well, just to keep you all updated, I have not arrived yet! Interlink/AY have been dragging their feet....to the extent that I have decided to follow the advice of many posters on this board and avoid Interlink/AY! |

It sounds like they don't know how many or if they need any teachers. I'd just move on and not let them string you along.

Are you sure that they're 'dragging their feet', and that the delay doesn't have something to do with your visa? Problems with visa issuance are very common, and there's often nothing the employers can do about them. Then again, incompetence from HR depts is also all too common, so it's hard to know which it is here - maybe both!
In any case, March is a strange time to be sitting around waiting for a job to come through. Even if you got there next week (which of course you won't) the academic year would be more than half way over. You're probably better off to start applying to other employers (in KSA or elsehwere), and get a decent job lined up for September. |

Well now that Mr. P is leaving as HOED, Dr. N whom cannot even compose a decent memo without extensive grammatical errors will be replacing him! Now I would like to know that how would YU pull this one off, when she is a woman and will have to be exclusively on the mens' side.
They are doing some very strange things yet again at YU! I really do not think that they want the program to be successful. I think that they are purposely trying to run it in the ground because everyone knows that Mr. A is going bankrupt. Because of stunts like this they do not have wasta with the Ministries which in turn causes extensive visa delays for individuals and families!
I do not know guys but what do you think? I am no longer there. I have decided to work in the UAE. The pay is better here and WOMEN CAN DRIVE!!!
P.S. Has anyone had the chance to meet this new president? Do you think that he will continue with the SILC program?
Inquiring minds want to know! |

| The wording here is confusing. Al Yamamah is not a "school" but a university. I am aware that our cousins across the pond may refer to places as a "school" but I do not feel that we should ensourage this ambiguopus usage ! |

I know you cannot and should not name names here, but although I as an ex-Yamamaer have some clue what you're talking about, I doubt many on this board will. Also, it might not be a good idea to draw attention to others' grammatical errors when you make a pretty glaring error yourself in the same sentence!

But doncha know Yamama is super-duper liberal and trying to shake things up? Anyway, there was a female head of Interlink when I was there a few years back. Like many of the top people at that strange place, she didn't last long, but I don't think that was due to her being a woman. Shame she went, she was a nice lady, very unlike the boot-licking spineless creatures they've had in management since.

Stunts like what? And why would YU not want their college's English program to be successful? Why would they care about "Mr A" and his finances? If YU wanted to get rid of Interlink I'm sure they could, whatever kind of arrangement they may have with them. Especially now that the president who - for whatever reason! - seemed such a fan of Interlink is gone. Contracts with foreign intermediaries rarely last long in Saudi. |

| Friends at Al Yamamah have told me that there are strong rumours circulating that Interlink have lost the contract with the college and that this will be their last year with Al Yamamah. This seems to have come out during the Interlink president's recent visit to Riyadh. I would say it also has a lot to do with the arrival of a new dean at Al Yamamah. Given the financial difficulties the college is going through, he probably sensibly realised that there was no point keeping on a failed middle-man like Interlink. |

| Maybe when they have a new set up they will scrap this nonsensical approach of NO EXAMS. |

Actually, the university has already scrapped this approach. There are exams at the university. The foundation program is also moving away from no textbooks to textbooks and exams. |

And how sure are you about it? I've an offer to join SILC and the A in Colorado told me to start working out on changing my way of teaching from text books to no books. |
