I'm wondering how many Preparatory Year Programs there are and how many companies vie for their assignment. I was surprised to learn of expat English teachers working directly for a university unfamiliar with English teachers attached by private contract.

I'm wondering if cooperation is seen as a dilution of separate solutions to the challenge of increasing the number of Saudis effectively studying abroad.

Dear scot47,

Well, if I answer your second post, then, this is my answer:

you are asking yourself to make the sentence "Can you explain that last sentence" understandable.

However, if I respond to your first post, then this is my answer:

LCT is speculating about the motives of management in hindering/not encouraging cooperation among teachers working directly for the university and those "attached" to the university by "private contract. And, as a possible motive, he offers the hypothesis that such cooperation may be seen by management as reducing the number of solutions teachers could provide to increasing the number of Saudi students who could/would
study effectively abroad.

To sum up - management doesn't like cooperation between these two groups of teachers because management think that would decrease the potential number of solutions to that problem.

My opinion is that I very much doubt management is likely to indulge in (or even be capable of coming up with) such recondite strategies.

My bill for services rendered is in the mail. Smile

Regards,
John
