She's back.......Kaw is back on the Bahrain board trying to get some recent info. Hope Bahrain is still as exciting as it always was (and certainly more so that Q .
OK a quickie question - a former collegue of mine left Bahrain a few years ago unfortunately without paying off his credit card. He's now wanting to go back to Paradise Island (???) but wonders if he'd be blacklisted and not allowed in. Am not sure what he owed - around 2000BD I think.
Any suggestions on where he could go to find out??? pm me.

Welcome Back to the B Board!!
I don't know that there is any way for him to check that one out without actually going.  I expect that it depends on how many years ago... and he'd definitely need to be using a different passport. Not sure if I would want to test that theory or not...

Don't chance it. He's definitely blacklisted. He'd be arrested at the airport. |

Thanks everyone for their helpful comments, have passed them on and told him that maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to head over there for a weekend away from Q8 for a while - especially as, as far as I know, he's not really into handcuffs 
Any idea how long he'd be blacklisted for - is it forever and ever??
We all know that what he did was stupid but at the time from what he has told me there was a family emergency and he had to leave pretty quickly. By the time things had got back to normal he was out of the country and didn't chase up with the bank. I know he's pretty desperate to go back as his fiancee has just got a job over there but am not sure what to suggest. Would it help him if he contacted the bank and paid of the amount owing?? |

That is the ONLY thing that would help. Once he settles his debt, the bank would withdraw the criminal charge against him, and he would be free to visit, live and/or work in Bahrain.
If he does do that, he should ensure (usually through a Bahraini embassy) that the withdrawal of charges has been registered in the government (GDNPR) records. It has been known to happen that a perfectly innocent person ends up in trouble because changes in status (criminal civil, employment, etc.) are not communicated from one department to another. |
