Haha, there were some ads on Gaijinpot that always said "Female teachers are especially needed in this area!" Never bothered to take the 5 seconds to apply to them.
I came to Japan in August on a tourist visa and had a job in 3 weeks. I didn't even apply to anything the first week. It happens. Although I already had previous experience, so it might have helped. I really do feel for the people trying to get started over here now. But if you're extremely flexible about location and apply to EVERYTHING, you should be able to find something to get your feet in the door. |

I agree with you. It is possible, if you're not picky.
I made myself a promise that I'd rather work in a capital city elsewhere in Asia rather than countryside in Japan. |

That doesn't mean that only females need apply. Shady, I agree, but it's the only way they can get around the law that says you can no longer advertise by gender. |

Of course I COULD have applied, but I didn't feel like involving myself with a company that's choosing people based partly on gender. Reminds me of trying to get an office assistant job in the US and EVERYBODY wanted a woman. |

So the hunt still goes on !
I applied to the well known ones AEON and Interac last week, but not heard anything back from them yet so its not looking good.
Still searching all over the place but with no luck !!! Damn, hope I catch a break soon  |

| Well AEON just replied and said I made it through to the interview weekend in London in June sometime which is quite a while off, so the hunt goes on, at least there is an interview somewhere along the line. |
