If I understand correctly, the usual union for teachers to join is The General Union, or one of its sister organisations, depending on which region of Japan you happen to find yourself in. In the Tokyo area, this means the Foreign Worker's Caucus (FCW) of NUGW Nambu.

The domain for FWC's website expired some time ago. It looks as if the lights are on, but nobody's home. Does anyone know what's going on?

I recently wrote to the General Union asking about the Nambu Union's website.
To me it looked like the lights were off...hence I asked the GU if it was simply a case of someone forgetting to put money in the meter or whether the Nambu lights were permanently off. I am waiting for a reply from the GU.

Thanks. I wrote to them today, too. If you ever get an answer, please let us know.

Just to let you know...

The General Secretary of the GU sent me this email today.

I don't know what has happened to their site, but I am forwarding your
message to one of the organizers in Tokyo.

Me too. When I e-mailed the GU I also e-mailed Louis Carlet, one of the organizers, myself and I haven't heard back from him yet.

I've just heard from Nambu FWC. No explanation for what happened, but the website is back up and they seem to want me!

Their Berlitz page is still down.

I had a chat with them earlier...this is what I was told...

The union is still at the same address and the English website is still there. There recently was an issue with the domain registration which took the domain registrar a while to solve.
