| I should point out that there was an equally big to-do when Brazil, which has a policy of "give as you get", forced American tourists to have their photos/fingerprints taken on entry (as the US was requiring of Brazilian citizens). Brazil, like China, simply has a reciprocal policy. It doesn't mean retaliation, or childishness, it just means they require US citiizens be treated the same as Chinese citizens. Interestingly, in the US press, this is referred to as "retaliation", even when it has been, as with Brazil, a long-standing policy. |
