I'm deciding on a place to teach. I thought quite a lot about Ecuador or Buenos Aires.
I however did my CELTA last year but have no experience as a teacher . I currently work in IT and whilst I make a comfortable living in England I wonder whether my inexperience and the fact I don't have a degree would hinder me massively to go teaching in South America or maybe east europe.
I currently have 60 points on an English degree through the open university. Would it be better to take some private students and finish up my degree.
A little bit of advice for someone new to Tefl teaching.
Thanks you! |

I recommend that you finish your degree. It will help you whatever you choose to do.

Your thread title says you've already started teaching but your original post says otherwise.
I agree with Ariadne: finish your degree (I'm assuming we're talking about a four-year degree). |

Stick with the OU for sure! I completed about 50% of my degree with them whilst I was teaching in China. I came back to the UK and completed the rest of it whilst working in summer schools in Eastbourne. I could afford to do that though, but perhaps not everyone can!
If you have 60 points already, you can get away with just taking an Open BA/BSc without honours at 300 points. Thats what I did and manage to finish it quite quickly! |
