A lot of contracts out east are like this. The employer gets loads of rights and the employee doesn't. We have to use market power, if we've got it, and the occasional reference to seeing a lawyer. Given the propensity of companies to be less than scrupulous, this can work well. However, I would be inclined to keep the powder dry so that it is usable when really needed.

Honestly at the moment I would take a bad position with a bad school. I am new at this, but want to work in Kazakhstan. Aktau would be preferable, but anywhere in the country, or even close, would be great. If you can be of any assistance with contacts, it would be appreciated. I have friends in the area, so getting stranded there is not a problem if I do get screwed by the school.

Best way from the US is Air Iceland to London from New Jersey to London via Iceland. Then From London to Baku via Azerbaijan Airlines, Baku to anywhere in Kazakhstan, but I researched Aktau, from there.
