I'm sure there's an ongoing thread about this somewhere on the boards, but I can't find it, so maybe it's one that's become sidetracked.

There's a thread on ESLteachersboard about a SAEFA blacklist. Here's the link;

I don't see an actual black list on the SAFEA link OR on the eslteachersboard.

I wonder what the asterisks mean.

Interesting translation of one (name and passport number have been X'd out). This one seems to have been written by SAFEA:

Various provinces, autonomous region, municipality foreign country expert bureau: Ningxia Yinchuan Cambridge English training center invitation American nationality (Chinese American) teacher XXXXXXXXX(male, on January 30, 1982 was born, passport number: XXXXXXXX) leaves school arbitrarily in the afternoon in April 16, 2009, and leaves Ningxia, recently only then informed the school no longer to go back the work, and has 2000 Yuan to the school loan not also. The Ningxia autonomous region foreign country expert bureau has acted according to the concerned requirements, logging out it has proven (the serial number in the Chinese foreign country expert: 3009000009). Presently the above fact issues paper nation, invites each unit concerned to check strictly, do not hire this person or outside teaches the status by the foreign expert to work in China. Specially notification. State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs Office

Apparently, the asterisks block out the last name.

Here's one with the asterisks. It is written in English and apparently written by his school, not SAFEA:

XXXX XXXXXX ****, male, Canadian, who was born in 1957 April 1, passport number: XXXXXX**. He used to work for Ameson Institute for Foreign Languages in Nanjing for about one month, and was asked to leave for certain reasons. Then ForeignHR tried to find him a job, and arranged him an interview, but finally he appeared to be an alcoholic, he overdrank nearly everyday even if he had no money.

This experience is what we just had in Oct. 2008. It is not enough for our saying he is teaching badly, nor saying he will behave the same like he did before, but we are very confident that he did be an alcoholic, which affected his work crucially. We write this story here to let other employers know a real Ross Douglas, so that they can make a wise decision.
