We are a couple looking for high school positions in Egypt for 2004-05. We have B.Ed degrees and have emailed many of the private schools our CV's, but we have not had many replies. Does anyone know when schools do their hiring for the coming year? Any info would be helpful. Thank you,
Cory |

Hi Cory,
I think that one reason for the poor response rate could be because Egyptian schools are hesitant about hiring teachers from abroad. Since the Egyptian pound is not doing well on the foreign exchange, schools can't afford the costly packages teachers are used to getting. But, they do pay well - in local currency.
School starts in Aug/Sept so if you are here in Egypt in late July and August, or even September, I'm fairly certain you can line something up. The majority of jobs are in Cairo so if you've been looking elsewhere, that could be another reason why you're not getting responses.
Good Luck,
Al |
