In reference to the article all I have to say is that ALLAH IS AKBAR, I almost accepted an offer from them. I even went as far as doing the medicals, but then another job offer came through in another country and I accepted that. I had a gut feeling about AETAG they hired me without an interview, I only spoke to one person Salem and something told me not to risk it.
I feel sorry for anyone who is suffering in KSA because of this company! |

I get a gut feeling when at the gas station, the attendant comes up to me and says "80 dirhams" and I know that he hasn't opened the filler door!

LOL that is funny... so what you are trying to say that AETAG was so obvious that they were going to treat me bad when they hired me and did not even give me an interview!!! |

The story is horrifying, but unfortunately it rings a lot of familiar bells. Similar things happened where I was employed, but it was on an individual basis rather than a group basis, and therefore less interesting for press coverage. As I stated on the other thread, this article should be required reading for anyone coming as a newbie to the Kingdom. |

I would like to thank the posters on this forum (and Dave Sperling for the existence of this forum) as otherwise I might have been one of the AETAG employees getting screwed over.
I must say I was very close to signing up- I have found on these boards you usually hear the negatives as people are far faster in complaining than praising, but AETAG just got too much bad press.
When I tried to insist upon a full employment visa they phoned me and said that's what I'd get and then sent me a visa 'package' without a word of English. I got 3 different answers when I asked which visa it was, then the notorious Salem emailed me asking if I had 'a hangover from new year parties' as I hadn't filed for my visa. I've never written back. |

Sorta. I've done this "teachin' Engrish" job for a coupla day now and the AETAG has been spoken about ad nauseum. I've NEVER been hired without a full vetting including the experience of being flown Business Class, not once but twice including the Business Class flight to saudi on Raytheon's dime (No, lck, NOT braggin', that's what REAL companies do when they DON'T stick you out into the wilds of of a corner of the great sand box!). Then again, the JET Program(me) sent me to Japan on Business Class back in the day, but I'm sure they don't do that anymore...
Good companies spend good money on good people to do a good job, full stop. Contractors try to round up the most cowboys/girls for the least bucks, full stop.
Why even bother with an interview when you're (contractors) not fer real.
I'll tell ya the real trick that some many new (now -ish) to these boards fail to observe. You've gotta be ready to walk away from the table. I've done that and have graciously been called back. I've also done it and have heard nothing but grief from those who couldn't resist.

People who do a bit of research, eg reading a few posts here, are less likely to fall into the clutches of these flesh-traders.
Of course there are always some who refuse to listen to negative vibes from boring old dudes like me - or smart elegant ladies like Our Nilotic Majesty. (Remind me of what happened to Anthony, someone !)

Which is the "prominent university" referred to here ? Where were these unfortunates hired for ? The contractor should get flak but surely the university that tolerated this arrangement also has some responsibilty.
Mind you, my experience suggest that,"Responsibility" is not something that any individual or institution will readily admit to. |

I hear that AETAG may be expanding their sphere of operations to include other universities and colleges.
The name always makes me think of MAYTAG but I cannot see what similarity they might have with the manufacturer opf heavy-duty high-quality washing machines. Maybe after a spell with AETAG you feel that you have been through a MAYTAG ? |
