Do not bring anything. What you need is provided. Other things - you can buy locally.

Scot47 is right on this one. It is not worth the use of luggage space to bring household items that are widely available and cheap in Saudi Arabia. The only things you really need to bring are any unusual or hard to find kitchen gadgets or sentimental items that will make your house feel like home. I cannot think of any kind of household item that would be hard to find in Saudi Arabia, although the decorative items may not be to your taste. Everything is available, and usually even at Wal-Mart or even Dollar Store prices.

My understanding is that housing is allocated before arrival. Not everyone is in Ferdaws. There are families accommodated in the apartments at New Shebab. .

Dear Scot,

Do the apartments at New Shebab have courtyards/gardens?
On google maps I can locate the Ferdaws courts, but it is not clear to me where the New Shebab apartments are.

Thanks again,
Ama

New Shebab is between Shebab and the Coop Supermarket. No gardens or courtyards.

You will have to wait until you arrive before you can do anything. Exercise patience, which is a virtue much needed when living in the KofSA

What do you mean by "Organic Produce" ? Define what you are looking for more closely. If you are a vegan or something like that - expect a tough time in KSA.

Tamimi supermarkets have a varying selection of organic produce, and so does Al Osra in Bahrain. You will pay dearly for it, of course.

Dear scot,
By Organic produce, I mean mainly Vegetables and Fruits. Correct, we are vegan and that is why we are a bit worried about finding affordable organic produce in KSA.

Dear Mia, are the organic produce in KSA more expensive than "Whole Foods" in US? (I hope not, because this is already expensive).

Thank you !

Why does it matter if the top unit is warmer, isn't there air conditioning? How effective is it in the hot weather?

Dear sahara musafir,

Perhaps the air-conditioning is the kind I had: boxes in windows, not all that efficient at cooling down interior spaces when the outside temperature climbs to 115 or 120.

Regards,
John

My friend said that Ferdaws Court housing units all have central AC so, yeah, if you leave the AC on all day, then living upstairs or downstarirs doesn't much matter.

Do the downstairs apartments in Ferdaws have "islamic balcony"?
