| I heard that ET is doing away with its housing allowance for new hires and will not be offering it for teachers who re-sign (assuming that anyone is crazy enough to resign). I saw teachers go from 30 try to 22.50 overnight. I suspect that the rate for new hires will soon be at 15. ET appears to be having financial problems: my old branch is reducing staff significantly. |

When they listen and finally get rid of that rubbish book they use, their fortunes could change significantly.
ET has always been good at marketing itself. However, five years of the worst Eng. book I've ever seen has simply frustrated students and teachers alike.
The place has become a haven for incompetent/lazy teachers. The few good ones, silently pluck away until they are frustrated and leave.
The students know they are guaranteed a Certificate, so they just have to show up. I had classes passed BEFORE they had written the exam.
However, once the student body gets tired of looking like idiots, ET will have no more market.
Things are so bad now, that for years they have been unable to hire Head Teachers from outside of ET. Any normal HT would simply laugh and run within two weeks and that is exactly what the last one did at Taksim a few years ago. Instead they are forced to hire from within, hoping that these teachers can at least go with the flow and they do until they get tired of looking useless and resign.
The Taksim branch usually has their HT resign in less than a year. One guy lasted a year but even he offered his resignation three times during that period. They have had no HT or Manager for most of this year.
Perhaps they might actually listen to some of their teachers who know better. It's so easy for a school like ET to be successful if they would only use a little common sense.

I heard a tale from a reliable source.
Apparently, ET were ignoring govt rulings to stay closed on public holidays as they made so much profit from these classes that they could easily afford the fines they incurred.
Eventually, The council moved in, All teachers were chucked out of this lovely country and told never to return for work.
They were replaced within a week.
This school has probably the worst reputation in Istanbul, and that's saying something, avoid..... |
