Hi all,

I am due to train as an English teacher through the Teach First programme from mid-June 2011 and am currently working as a Teaching Assistant in the SEN department of a state secondary school in London. I work with particular students across Years 7-11 and a range of subjects as well as 1-1 sessions after-school. From mid-July this year I have, therefore, 10 months to fill with worthwhile teaching-related experience and am keen to know about any courses or programmes in either Western Europe or further afield that would enable me to teach ESL. These are the facts:

-I am 23 years old, with a BA degree in History (2:1) from York University, UK
-No CELTA/TEFL quals
-Experience with tutoring students in English in evenings
-Basic conversational Spanish and French, but not fluent in anything other than English
-I am free to work from between end July 2010 - June 2011 so unfortunately cannot undertake year-long posts abroad
-Cannot afford to pay for courses (which rules out TEFL and also some that are far from the UK)

I understand that at this point in the year it may be too late to apply for most Summer camps, but I would really appreciate any links if people know of reputable ones in Italy, Spain or France that they can recommend. Also, if anyone knows of any short placements (6 months or below) abroad that don't require a course fee or TEFL qualification please let me know.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post- I'm very grateful in advance for helpful responses!

Emma
