I'm not sure if this is the right thread but since the search function didn't throw up any other, here we go.
I'm moving to Jubail very soon and have a couple of small questions for anybody who's in Saudi now or has spent some time there recently. Presumably there'll be very limited airline baggage allowance and I'll be working quite hard as well as tying up a lot of loose ends right until I leave, so have to be very very organised. Which doesn't always come naturally.
Firstly, is there anything you'd packed and taken there that you later found you didn't need?
Secondly, is there anything you didn't pack and take there that you really wish you had?
Any advice or the benefit of people's wisdom greatly appreciated. |

I only wish I had packed less. Everything that you need will be available in KSA, if not in Jubail then in Dhahran/Al Khobar or Bahrain.
If you wear unusual sizes in clothes, especially big/tall men's sizes, then you might want to consider bringing extra clothes. But remember that you can have anything copied, precisely and cheaply, by local tailors. Large sized shoes for men and women are also in short supply.
If I were you, I'd just pack the minimum. If you find you need more, you can always have someone ship it to you. Shipping costs a lot less than you would think, and shipping back to your own country is almost ridiculously inexpensive. Bring little, and buy what you need when you are there. |

You can find everything you need here. Pork pies and draught Guinness might be a bit difficult. |
