Hi Everyone,
often read the posts but never posted before, thought I'd give it a go.
I'm a DELTA qualified teacher/teacher trainer currently in London.
Had a happy time in Bochnia, just south of Krakow for 2 years 4 years back. That's where I met my lovely wife. As I always knew, my lovely Malapolska girl wants to go home.
So, now I need to get on my bike and look for work in Polska once again.
A little about me:
5 years experience
Well versed in all Cambridge exams including BEC
BEC Examiner
3 Years Corporate training working with FTSE100 companies
Qualified Trinty TESOL trainer
Hopefully, someone will see all that and give me a job, LOL.
Anyway, the questions.
When I was last in Poland I earned approx 4000zl a month and was pretty comfortable. I've been back to Polska several times and noticed prices of cigarettes, beer etc and 4000 doesn't seem very much anymore. Probably need to double that?
Whatwould the guys living there now say and how do you go about getting it.
When I was in Poland, I worked for York in Krakow. Yes, it's got some very bad press but I quite enjoyed it. Don't really want to go back there though, where would people recommend? Is cold calling a good idea?
Nearly done!
Next, what about setting up on your own? Paperwork? Costs? Monthly turnover? Is it easy to get students in Krakow? Obviously I'd probably target the business market.
Last one. I've noticed there's not many TT centres in LKrakow. Dpes anyone think a TESOL course in Krakow would fly.
Answers on a post card
Thanks Guys

If you're very active at a good school, you might make 6000zł+ in a full working month.
Then there's semester break in February when you'll earn 2500zł and July when you'll earn nothing. So you need to have sidelines, lots of sidelines, juggle them with your school workload, take cancellations on the chin, constantly be worrying about what you're going to be doing in three months.
There are other combinations available - work for companies, do only privates, be a part-time model.
Average young Polish couples get by on 3000-4000zł a month (some even less) so if you don't wanna live the fat life you can always downsize. |
