I have done a lot of research on teaching in South Korea. I have a pretty good idea about how things work there. I would appreciate some information on Taiwan because I would like to compare the two.
What is the basic cost of living in Taipei?
ie. 1 bedroom/studio apartment, groceries, phone, electric, cable, internet, gas, public transit...
What is a reasonable wage for a beginning teacher with a BA in English and a TEFL certificate?
I know Korea has pretty good public transportation in most of the smaller cities as well as the larger ones. Does Taiwan have good public transit like this also?
My boyfriend and I want to teach in either Taiwan or South Korea. From what I understand, a lot of people don't like Korea very much, but I have to be sure that my boyfriend and I can repay our student loans. Between us, our loans cost about $700 a month. Would we be able to afford this, and if we can, will we be paying on the loans for a long time? |
