You know what? Today I'm going to be from Missouri, the Show Me State. You PROVIDE the facts by copying/pasting and providing the link before telling me or anyone in your divine and borderline-sophomoric way to avoid writing on forums. If I'm wrong--so be it.

It is easier to get Saudi citizenship than German ! There has been some misunderstanding here. Perhaps they said something in jest and your friend took it seriously.

I dag (sic) a little deeper and it turns out that some leg pulling/chain yanking was going on. However, they are paying up to 20K SAR/month.

Dear Sheik,

"Today I'm going to be from Missouri, the Show Me State."

Good thing it's only for a day. I had the unfortunate experience of living in Misery (as most of those who've abided there call it), and I can testify that
even a day there might prove hazardous to your mental health.

I mean, look at what a year in Misery did to me.

"You PROVIDE the facts by copying/pasting and providing the link before telling me or anyone in your divine and borderline-sophomoric way to avoid writing on forums."

Time to call out the guys with the baseball bats?

Regards,
John

Is this aimed at me?

Dear Asda,

If the Sheik will pardon my intrusion, I believe it was "aimed" at the poster with the user-name of "Linguist."

At any rate, I went to the link scot47 provided, and, after checking it out, I can report that there seem to be NO job vacancies in the Middle East in Education - for either "Professionals" or "Young Professionals."

So, it does seem a little irrelevant to be discussing this company on an EFL Saudi Arabia Job Information Forum.

Regards,
John

I could find nothing on the website about EFL in the Gulf, nor about handing out free German passports.

Besides... do "German passports" exist anymore? I thought they all got EU passports now.

Dear veiledsentiments,

Apparently they do exist, and here's a story about the trials and tribulations that a German citizen had to go through just to renew her passport in 2009:

http://gattinawritercramps.blogspot.com/2009/07/getting-new-german-passport.html

Not all that easy, even for a citizen who already HAS a passport.

Regards,
John

Nope--aimed at Linguist, who said "Join GTZ and get a German passport ! Dude, check the facts before you write on forums" (!!)

But it just struck me that Llinguist may have been attempting irony--in which case, I missed it. Since L's "Dude" post appeared right after mine, I may have mistaken it as aimed at me.

Anyway, the procedures for getting German citizenship do not include being hired in Saudi Arabia.

There is a notice elsewhere on the net about their associate organization CIM, which says that to be employed, candidates must have German citizenship or that of another EU nation. Ahem--looks like that contradicts the prevailing crackpot theory, doesn't it.

Naw, the EU is an economic and legal entity, but constituent nations remain sovereign nations at least to the extent of citizenship as well as certain sets of laws.

The Man With The Fat Cigar is right again. Individual member states continue to issue their own passports, but not just for being a teacher in the Magical Kingdom of Humanity.

They are all in the same format and of the same colour. It says "EU" at the top and then underneath the name of the issuing state.
