I am a Canadian woman currently living in Thailand. I plan to go back to Canada with my Thai partner and complete a Bachelor of Education Degree.
Question 1. Any good advice on one year B.Ed programs in Canada?
Question 2. Where do we go from there? I want to spend two years making good money. Obviously my partner will need to come. Where can I teach and he acquire a visa? With money. Tall order I realize. I have an abundance of experience and will soon have the educational requirements. Now I just need the advice!
Thank you.

Do you have all the prerequisite courses for the BEd programs? I know that SFU (http://www.sfu.ca) has an excellent program (about 10 months long), but like all BEd programs in Canada, the competition is fierce and prerequisite courses are extensive.

That's a bit difficult. My experience is limited to Canada - if you want to stay, they are screaming for teachers in the north. You might be able to work something out with that (northern allowance and a government teaching job will make decent money). Northern BC is desperate right now, whereas teachers in the lower mainland are being laid off. I don't know about your Thai partner though!

What does "partner" mean? Spouse? Life partner (but not legally married)? Close intimate friend? Some countries will not recognize same-gender relationships as spousal, so getting a proper visa may pose problems.

Also, what is your Thai partner's background? Any college degree? That may also be an immigration thing.

And, just exactly what does your partner want to do?

Are you looking only at Canada? If not, where are you willing/unwilling to go? And, when?

We are attempting to enter Canada on a common-law partnership permanent resident visa. It is a heterosexual relationship. We may consider marraige in the future, but as it stands we are quite comfortable with our current situation.
He has no formal education beyond his high school completion. He will be attending a hair stylist course but is willing to work at whatever job presents itself while I am in school.
We want to make some money, after I recieve my degree, to create a nest egg. I will be the major breadwinner, if we start a family he will be the stay at home Dad. So, the question is, where would you recommend a family unit such as this start earning some bread?

Thank you for the advice about up north. It is something to think about, but he hasn't even seen snow yet, so that might be a bit of a push!
