Has anyone taught English in Iran? How does one go about finding teaching jobs there? |

I know many people who taught in Iran... before 1979. No one since...
Did you do a search? Or just read a few threads down where there is a 4 page discussion of Iran?
This has been answered... and it is pretty much impossible as they do not import teachers nor give work visas. With the political situation at the moment, working illegally is probably NOT a good idea.

Can you even get a tourist visa to get in these days with all the geopolitical bantering/badgering/etc.....? If you can, Id suggest just knocking on doors once youre there. Its always the best bet anywhere on earth IMO. |

Yes, plenty of people are getting tourist visas and yes, there are a few who have found jobs there by knocking on doors. The problem is that you will be working illegally since you can't get a work visa... and this is not a good time for a native speaker of English (assuming that the OP is one) to be involved in anything illegal in Iran.

(PS: arriving and knocking on doors may work in much of the world, but not in the Gulf... that is, not if you want to make a living) |

Wasn't there another thread about Iran recently, where exactly the same question was asked?
Bottom line is it's almost impossible to get work as an English teacher in Iran. Demand is certainly there, but the burocracy makes hiring foreign teachers extremely difficult. |

As I mentioned above... it was a just a few threads down from the original post here.
I've never understood why people can't even bother to read the thread titles for at least half of the page before posting... or even better, do a search.
