Hello all!

I'm a native teacher currently at a private school in Ankara, but planning on moving to Istanbul in August/Sept. I've been trying to find out information about the following schools: Kent school of English, British English, and Dialogue Language School, but it's quite thin on the ground. I've heard that they all have a decent reputation in the city, but I'd REALLY appreciate it if anybody could share some first hand experience of them. How are they to work for? What are teaching methods/students like? Pay?

Plus, I'm currently paying 600TL p/m (+ bills) to rent an apartment here, what are the rent prices like in Istanbul? I'd be looking at somewhere in or around the Kadıky region (a huge number of schools seem to be around there - incidentally, is there any particular reason for this?!)

By the way, first-time poster, so be gentle.
Thanks!

Isaac

British English is a fairly new operation--1 year in the tony Nisantasi district of IST, It appears to be a top flight school--I know some native speakers who have worked there.

It is a full floor setip right over the Osmanbey Metro stop exit. Perfect location. The place is not only immaculate it looks like the Ritz or something done up in all British themed meeting rooms. I will have to say though that they dont have many students it appears. Their prices are significantly higher than the competitors and they seem to be going for an upmarket clientel unlike the criminal Bridge English located in the same building one floor above them. Bridge (NOT British) is the school that effectively is running a Ponzi scheme by hiring native speakers to work there then not paying them claiming hardship--then having them arrested if they protest.

If you cross paths with that Bridge English guy B-R-K M-----Y then flee as fast as your legs will take you

British seems good though if you can get hours

PM me for additional info

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will send a PM, but I need to have posted at least 5 times to be able to send PMs, hence the posts below, how embarrassing.
