is there anything i can do?
i'm an animal lover and this is really bothering me. the cat is pregnant for the 2nd year in a row. last year my landlord fed her and took 2 of the kittens. this year she had 3 more! i've been feeding her this year, as i know she has to nurse the kittens. she comes to the balcony for food, and i would love to keep feeding her, but she needs to be fixed.
is there any kind of agency that will spay the cat or do i need to take care of it myself?
i could try to capture her, but she is wild.
any info appreciated...thx! |

Well, if you can claim that it's your cat, some wards will subsidise the cost of having it speyed. I rather suspect that most people would take the attitude, "Why are you providing contraception for a wild animal?" |

Because Bob Barker said so!
I rather suspect that most people do not realise what good can come of neutering and spaying not only their own pets, but strays as well. As a cat lover and cat owner myself, I strongly believe in this. It promotes health, longer life, prevents disease, and certainly knocks down the amount of animals brought into this world that cannot be adequately cared for. So you can well imagine that I do not think much of the attitude you attribute to most people. |

Hmm. I should learn when to keep my mouth shut. |

By and large the Japanese have not yet caught onto the notion of spaying and neutering or TNR to reduce feral or semi-feral cat colonies. the rate is down around 30percent vs. 70percent for the USA. You could also look at the Japan Cat Network website and see if they have any contacts that can help you. You may wind up having to foot the bill yourself however. It cost me about 2man to get my Aya-chan spayed. |
