firstly, a parent has the right to know what type of person is teaching their children , jpanes or not.
also, if you are proud of your lifestyle choices, should you not admit them to your employer?
and, do yu not have a duty to be honest with your employer? |

Do you know the relationship status of every teacher in you area in your home country or any western English speaking country? Do you have to complete a form stating your sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs when you apply to be a teacher in your home country?
I'll tell you why you don't. Because denying work to a person based on these bits of personal information is discrimination.
Since public displays of affection are not really done as openly here as is normally the case in our home countries, if you were being respectful of the local customs, you wouldn't be exposing anyone to you orientation regardless of whether you were straight, lesbian, gay, bi, swinger or whatever. So your orientation would be even less relevant out here than back home. |

You know darned well why, so please stop baiting people here.
You make veiled accusations about gay people being potentially dangerous to children, when you have nothing to back that up. I think this thread should be stopped, or you should be censured.
Just my opinion, though. |

| Well, well! A bigot has finally infiltrated this message board! Boy, it's too bad gays don't have tattoos on their wrists so that you can track them. I hope this is not representative of foreigners in Japan. It's been so long since I've lived there, I guess I just assumed that homophobes belong in MY country (the USA). Hey stefanreynolds, I hear that the Japanese have a cultural prejudice against Japanese-Koreans. Why don't you show them how to hate the right way; the American way! |

Hey, hey. We're working on that. Okay, so Prop 8 hurt like hell, but at least it looks like DADT is finally on the cutting board... |

I "suggest" that all members contributing to this thread post only relevant to the topic of the thread and avoid comments in advance of personal agendas, trolling or simply baiting others.
If not, members choosing not to abide by this 'suggestion" will no longer be with us and the thread will continue assuming that it remains on topic and otherwise does not violate board policies, ToS, etc.
Members are requested to report inappropriate postings to the Mod Team as soon as possible by PM or Report Post mode. |

Momohime, like Shiori, I hope you got some value out of the information I posted above. For the most part, I have found that the Japan forum has been fun and sometimes informative. There are all kinds of people in this world and on the 'Net. I hope you meet the ones with whom you can have a meaningful dialogue about the cultures you come from.
Best of luck in your preparations. |
