You guys are going to have a hard time with this:

I got here yesterday and I can safely say that this is one of the oddest places I've ever been. There are people who look Africqn, European, even Americqn. You cqn buy Budweiser in the store, but it's spendy. Cigarettes are a bit spendy too compared to Korea.

But I just took a wqlk around my little neighborhood and I saw two language schools. Now, I've been out of the house for q grqnd total of qbout two hours since I got here, and I'm not seeing how someone with a little initiative qnd q lot of ...fortitude... couldn't make a decent living in this place.

I'll post more info when I get it. Until then:

ESLCafe: I just moved to Morocco from Korea to find a job on spec. AMA.

Congrats. Nice to hear a success story once in a while. Hope you make a lot of money and drink a shed load of beer.

Thanks, and it will definitely be a success story when I figure out how to touch-type on an AZERTY keyboard...

This just in... Sonicare toothbrushes from the US apparently don't explode when plugged into 220 (I thought about it for a second and since it's inductive...why would it?)

Also, all your Korean power cords fit right into an old-style (not the new one with the pin) Moroccan wall plug, so plug that laptop in and keep the dream alive!

Salaam and Au revoir!

Glad you have arrived and are settling in, but regarding making a decent living...have you found out how much those language schools pay yet?

I haven't been exactly...proactive about finding a job. I'm taking a week off and enjoying the scenery, which is difficult because I'm out of clean shirts. o_O

But I'll see how things go when I go down to the laundry this morning and pick up my stuff.

BPEC are recruiting in Rabat and Casablanca.

Twin C and I arent married or anything, but we were based in Casablanca at the same time and also had a few short assignments in Rabat.

No bones about it. Casa was/is a dump, but our counterparts in Rabat envied our bigger city lifestyle with the sprinkling of average restaurants and bars as compared to the capitals even more meagre offerings. Laughably, one teacher even transferred from Rabat to Casa. Meanwhile, we reckoned Rabat seemed cleaner and classier but boring and sterile.

So, one question, please. If you want to do Morocco, and genuine best wishes to you, what about Casablanca?

I'll pop by BPEC. Do you know a contact there?

I know some people in Rabat, plus there are fewer.. uhhh.. distractions here.

Edit: You want boring and sterile, try Daegu.

I sure hope not. I need at least a few months off after getting out of that toilet.

it's very nice to hear a follow up! I read a lot of people tell their plans on this forum, but I never really hear how it actually went. I wish you the very best of luck in Morocco!! Very Happy
