Hey LOL... never fear, Deicide and I are cool. And, if one is still in one's 30's, a social life is more important than when one gets to my age.
Mrsdoolittle should try applying to some of the places in Oman and see what happens. It would be worth a try.

| I apologise for my previous shallow words... I was a little stung by the comment about my age. VS is in a good place, I envy her. Deicide - it's all about attitude. Look how well Sarkozy has done. I am quite ordinary but I take care of myself and because of my own disadvantages/disabilities (everybody suffers something) have learned to enjoy life and every day get a kick out of just being alive... my students like that. I don't dwell on life's bad s**t. But yes... it makes me sad that youth is overrated and society does not respect experience.... (BTW if that's YOU on the vid you really have nothing to worry about, except your worries!) |

See PM. I am shocked by what you wrote there, if only because it is patently false. |

Dear MsDooLittle,
"What, Clearisil doesn't work?"
Spot on (so to speak.) I'm sorry if you thought I (the "Somebody") was "writing you off" by making the "Florence" remark; that wasn't my intent at all. I thought that you might have some unrealistic expectations about being able to leap into a new culture in the ME.
My apologies.
Regards,
John |

| No worries John... I was being a little over-sensitive! I think ME is probably not the place for me anyway. I have to get the extra quals which would require moving from where I am now... if I'm not ready to do that, I'm not ready for ME... |

I read your post and wanted to contact you privately, but since I'm new to this forum, I am unable to send you a PM. Sorry to everyone who has to read this message (great advice on various topics, BTW)
Anyway, I too am a SWF in Bratislava contemplating relocation and the ME was on my list of places to learn about. I too am a bit bored and doing the same kind of teaching you are.
I was wondering if you'd be open to the idea of meeting up for a coffee (or beer, as seems to be the norm here...lol) and discuss our war stories. It may be fun.
What do you think? |

| .....they don't do coffee in Bratislava ? Did the Austrians teach them nothing ? Even in the benighted lands of Bohemia I can remember imbibing a "Turek" or "alla Turca". |
