If anyone has seen Karl or know of his whereabouts, please call the NZ
Embassy's duty officer on 081 837 7240 if he can't do so for himself.

I'm also posting this on arjan but if there are any other relevant places to post it, please let me know or post it on.

This was posted on thaivisa not long ago. Marko is a New Zealand ambulance officer working in Bangkok. He has also been in the news recently.

"Karl has been found alive although a little distraught due to possible head injuries. The NZ embassy is working with the Thai police to arrange his safe return to New Zealand.

Thank you to all those who have helped in locate him.

A New Zealander missing in Bangkok for more than a week has been found alive.

Christchurch based Karl Warhurst went missing during the recent unrest in the Thai capital leaving family back in New Zealand unable to track him down.

His sister Cari Batenburg has contacted TVNZ today to say that Karl has been found.

"Karl is very unwell but we have yet to have his exact condition confirmed by medical personnel. I did manage to speak with him very briefly by phone this evening, but wasn't able to learn much as he was very confused and unsure of what was going on," she said.

Warhurst went missing on May 17 after being discharged from a Bangkok Hospital. He had been there with a head injury after he was caught up in the red shirt's protest.

The family has asked for privacy while it works on getting Karl back home and thanked everyone involved in helping to find him.

Batenburg said: "We especially want to acknowledge the amazing efforts made by Marko Cunningham of the Bangkok Free Ambulance, Mark Boddy of the NZ Police in Christchurch, Steve Marshall of TVNZ, and the team at the NZ Embassy in Thailand."

Bangkok got back to business yesterday with markets, government offices, and schools re-opening after a massive clean-up of the city following the worst political mayhem in modern Thai history.
