I've got a job offer to come to Thailand in July, and I have a question about the requirements for the work permit.
I was told that the names on my passport, degree and CELTA need to be identical. My CELTA has my first name and middle initial, last name. The other two documents have my full name.
I noticed when researching that in some instances, a letter from the issuing body would suffice. How true is this?
I contacted Cambridge ESOL, but haven't hear back. I also emailed the school where I took the CELTA, but also no response.
I'm not sure what my next move is. Can anyone tell me whether a letter is really enough and whether it would have to be from Cambridge ESOL? If I can't get this fixed before I'm in country, how much of a hassle will it pose with the work permit?
Thanks! |

If your name is John Robert Doe on everything else but John R. Doe on your CELTA, I don't think it would be a problem. A separate letter of confirmation may help.
If a school likes you and needs you, they are not gonna make a stink about this. In fact, the reverse. Thailand can impose a lot of red tape, but when it 'suits', things can be very smooth. A good school or uni should carry out the obtaining of your WP and generally help you through that stuff.
