Hi,

We are planning to work in the UK in the summer and some schools are asking for original docs passports etc to be sent, not copies.

Has anyone else had this problem and how have you got round it ? Apart from not working for the school.

I got a statuatory declaration to state that the copies of the documents I sent were true copies - perhaps that is an option.

They want you to send them your passport? Don't do it! Weird.

In most cases original documents must be seen by the person who counter-signs your form because they must see you, your ID and the form. It's identity verification, not checking the validity of your ID (dates, issuing body etc), so a photocopy probably won't do as it could have been forged. You are probably best going to the official site. FAQs here: http://www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk/faqs.aspx including a section for overseas applicants. Sometimes the registered body will have a process in place to verify your identity in your country of origin but this is quite rare.

Are you aware that CRBs take forever (up to 3 months) to come through, with significant delays sometimes for overseas applicants, and you're also likely to need to join the ISA register as well on the same form if you start your job after July 26th?

How are you filling in the forms? Are they being sent to you?

Do you know how they're doing the document verification yet?

A teaching recruitment agency in UK said they wanted a police clearance check for every country i had been to in the past 5 years. Whether i taught there or not!!

I had been to about 12 countries i said. Well you have to go to London then and visit all those embassies and get a check done.

My answer: "In your dreams" I declined to add Bitch since she was just a Tracy or Sandra Droid programmed to talk BS!

Been to?! No.

Been resident in, yes, but otherwise people in the UK would have to redo their CRB every time they went on holiday Shocked

I don't think it's even possible to have been resident in 12 countries over 5 years as residency requirements are usually spending more than half the year in the country!

She added that even if i had just been to australia on a holiday then a check would be needed for australia. Had only worked in 6 including my own. Another was my CELTA course the remaining 5 visits, holidays, travels. In retrospect do i want to work for an agency that employs idiots like that assuming they are wrong
