Hi,

I'm interested in teaching English in China this fall (Oct - Dec), but I'll only be available to teach for around 4-10 weeks. I am flexible about where in China I could teach, but I'd ideally like to be in Shanghai. Does anyone have ideas about how this could be possible? Are there language schools that have intensive courses, short-term private classes, or any other similar situation? Could I offer myself as an extra help type teacher through a school already in session? How should I go about finding such a position? I am willing to work irregular or parttime hours but I need to have some income. I am TEFL certified and have experience. Thanks for all your advice,

Jessica

I've seen adverts from AES for winter teaching- I think that was in December, and is usually 6-7 weeks. I'd guess there are other options as well, probably more at private language schools...
You probably won't see any adverts around for ages though, as autumn/winter courses will probably be sorted out much nearer the time.

thanks for your reply. what's AES? when you say private language schools, do you mean as opposed to international schools? where did you see adverts in the past and how do you suggest going about finding them (when the times gets closer)?
thanks! jessica

I came here using a recruiter that I can highly recommend. I remember him talking to some folks about short term teaching assignements ( as low as 3 weeks)
PM me if interested in more information

You only fit in as a stand-in at a language-mill, not at a regular school.
Also, you can offer no experience, or China-relevant experience.
For you to get a legal position is a dream!
