Last spring, while house hunting with a friend, I visited lots of 1DK and 1K loft places in the Y60,000 range. It's possible to get two rooms for that price here.
Right now, greater Tokyo is experiencing a housing glut, so prices are stable. A recent article in the Japan Times revealed that real estate companies are hurting because of the glut, and rethinking the attitude towards foreign renters.
There are many non-Japanese living in Kashiwa and Matsudo because of the universities, import/export businesses and food industry jobs in the area, so non-Japanese do find accommodations here.
I suggest you go visit the Kashiwa Information Center, which serves Abiko, Kashiwa, Nagareyama and Matsudo visitors and residents. They can direct you to rental agencies that welcome foreigners. KIC is located in the VAT Building at Kashiwa Station east exit. See their website here - http://www.86kashiwa.net/ |

Thank you so much.
Very helpful information TokyoLiz.
60,000 yen sounds pretty good for a 1DK.
I will keep looking.
THANK YOU ! |
