My husband and I are narrowing our teaching choices for the fall and have spent a year in S. Korea, where we were able to come away with a nice savings account. We are still paying off graduate loans and must bank at least $1,000 a month. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of how much we'd be able to save with a net income of $4,500 to $5,000 a month living in Hiroshima, or anywhere in Japan for that matter? |

with a net income around $5,000 per month you should have no problem saving $1,000 per month in Hiroshima.
if you have any specific questions about living in Hiroshima, i'd be happy to try to answer them |

If that figure is $1000 USD per month for a total, not for each of you, then you should have no problem even with entry level jobs.
The trick is in getting the jobs... |
