Hi everyone. What would anyone suggest is a sensible amount of money to bring over to Latin America in order to set up as teacher? To narrow it down:
- I am particularly looking at Ecuador, possibly Columbia
- For costs, I mean minus flights, costs of CELTA. I am mainly concerned about the period between completing the course and finding work. Including accommodation (temporary and then finding a more permanent place), living costs. What sort of financial buffer zone have people usually brought? What is a reasonable time to expect for the job search?
- I am saving in UK 's, but advice in any currency is welcome!

In Bogota I'd want $3000-$4000 USD, budgeting $1000/month.
International House is probably the only employer you'd be able to find who would help you get a visa. If you have a CELTA, it's pretty much just a matter of waiting till they have an opening, which seems to be always. |

Bring 2K if you don't have a flight. Maybe less if you do. |
