What about surgery to mend a badly shattered wrist broken when an idiot fell off her bed in the middle of the night while chasing an errant cucaracha Question

I don't know...probably parts of such a surgery would have discounts, like any testing, xrays, lab stuff...there are a lot of discounts in the guide for lab work. VRIM isn't like insurance at all though one has to remember.

If VRIM isn't really insurance, then what is it? Maybe it could be used as a supplement to IMSS?

VRIM is simply an association that offers discounts with doctors, labs, and hospitals that are part of the VRIM system.

http://www.webmedicavrim.com.mx/index.php

When Dixie was pregnant, we found doctors through VRIM to see every month, paying $200 pesos a visit instead of the usual $500 these doctors changed. We also went to IMSS as maternity leave ruls state you have to have X number of IMSS visits, since they sign the mat leave checks. The IMSS doctor was more or less capable but the wait at our crowded clinic was too much to bear.

There were packages through VRIM for hospital delivery of the baby, but we ended up using a hospital not associated with VRIM.
