RE: Lincoln American School - Taiwan
Hello!
I have seen incomplete bits and pieces of blog (not on Dave's), notes on this school, and something not being okay with it. None are very clear.
If anyone has heard of it, and knows anything at all, your comments here would be helpful to me and others.
Thank you -
Your Virtual Colleague,
Clark |

They changed to the "American School in Taichung" a few years ago... I used to know some faculty there (back when it was Lincoln), and it was generally considered a runner-up to Morrison Academy in terms of Academics and general prestige, but was still a decent school. As an international school, you need teaching cert. from your home country, and you'll get a better all-around package if you're hired outside of Taiwan (i.e., then they usually tack on housing and flight benefits). The salary wasn't great by intl. school standards, but still waaaaaay above average for teaching in Taiwan -- I think it started from around $80K-90K TWD; however, that's based on memory, so don't take the quote to the bank...

Are you talking about the Lincoln American School in Taichung, or the one in Chia Yi?
The one in Chia Yi is where I first worked when I came to Taiwan. Based on my experience there, I would not recommend it. Neither would I recommend living in Chia Yi. |
