The 80's for me was:

David Bowie
Michael Jackson
Making out with the cute Chinese guy in the philosophy stacks

(Well, those are the highlights that jump to mind, there was surely more.)

Great list Capergirl. Laughing Laughing I can relate to them all except maybe the biker shorts under a skirt. Can't say I had the priveledge.

You did have the privilege of wearing leg warmers then? Shocked

Man I feel old now and I know we're about the same age. Don't you feel old when your daughter starts to do things that you used to do? Scary!

Not really. What makes me feel old is when I open my mouth, and one of my parents speaks. Laughing

Capegirl, i think you slipped a little bit before the 80s with some of the items on that list. Not that I don't remember the groovy 70s stiffness of an Atari 2600 VCS joystick, or can't quote the oft-missed lyrics from the Good Times theme, "...hangin' in a chow line..." Wink

This thread is rad! A few questions:

Quote:
Atari, Commodore 64 and CollecoVision

and
Quote:
20. You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game system.

Where's the love for Intellivision? Does anyone else remember Intellivision!?

Quote:
26. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf.

I still ponder why...please, can someone explain this to me? Please!!! Confused

Cheers,
Kirk

BTW, the list you posted was bodacious Capergirl!

Capergirl, that was a SCARY list. Freak-me-out CITY!

Wonderwoman underoos? Woah.

I found a good 80s page. it says you remember the 80s if

this rings a bell: "and my name, is Charlie. They work for me."

Everyone knows, of course, that the 80s started in 1975, which is whe the 60s ended. The 70s never happened. I hope.

Quoi? What about the Homer Simpson line:

"Rock 'n Roll achieved perfection in 1974." Wink

Born in 1980, so I was a 90's cusp child.

All those great kids slang words

'Bogus, awesome, radical' (In a Bill and Ted voice)

as well as the famous 'geek, nerd' etc.

Bad things: 'Fantasy' art like frilly sparkly unicorns dancing under waterfalls with rainbows...on a tie die t-shirt with stonewashed almost white jeans and gimmick sneakers like 'pump' or something, cringe cringe cringe.

80's rap makes me laugh laugh laugh. Especially done by kids on kids programs from the 80's. It's like a work of art; grotesque yet compelling.

Give it another 5 years and the 80's will look really cool - especially next to the (shudder) early 90's. MC Hammer anyone?

Evidently the 80s are making a comeback - everything is cyclical. I heard recently that the mullet is rearing it's lopsided head once more.

The best description I heard of said hairstyle:

"Business at the front, party in the back." Laughing

More reasons why the '80s sucked:

--Richard Marx
--Michael Bolton
--Tiffany
--The Facts of Life
--"My Sherona" by the Knack (God, what a stupid song)
--"Blinded by the light/wrapped up like a douche" (what's that supposed to mean?)
--Cyndi Lauper
--Reagan serving two terms
--the assassination of Anwar Sadat
--the assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme (a case yet to be solved)
--AMC cars
--Flock of Seagulls' hairstyles
--stupid bands with double names: Duran Duran, The The, Mister Mister (even Yo Yo Ma Ma got in on the act)
--Tipper Gore and the Parental Committee on Music
--public believing that heavy metal songs contain subliminal messages
--public believing that records contain messages when played backwards
--227
--Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker
--Tina Turner
--Charles/Chachi in Charge
--John Cougar/John Cougar Mellencamp/John Mellencamp (make up yer mind, will ya?)
--Michael Dukakis' presidential campaign (a joke, right?)
--"1,000 points of light," "read my lips no new taxes" and other stupid presidential quotes (like father, like son?)
--1980 Olympic boycott
--1984 Olympic boycott
--McGyver
--Kenny G
