|
|
Hello LA
I have decided I need to set up a Web Page for the Zhangjiagang Orphanage. When I went to look at the original site a couple of days ago it had disappeared! I used to do a Google search and type in "zhangjiagang" and then scan down to find Zhangjiagang, my Home Town - but it has completely disappeared.
I was trying to get into it to get an email address of an English couple who adopted a little girl from my Orphanage in 1994 to thank them for sending me some toys.
I am heading off to the Orphanage this morning (Saturday) with 15 people from Sweden. I had dinner with them last night. There are four families who all adopted girls from my Orphanage in 1994 plus 2 film crew from Sweden. It is really strange seeing Chinese girls (6 in all) who cannot speak or understand Chinese! They are also learning English at School as well.
These Swedish people found me on the Orphanage site, and they needed my help to get into the Orphanage for a visit today, as they did not go through the proper channels (Department of Civil Affairs). I managed to get them in for a two hour visit, plus lunch today. None of them have ever been here before as they all picked up their babies in Nanjing or elsewhere - never here. The Director said "no cameras" and "no visiting the babies room" which is a pity as the babies room is where I spend all my time and they would have loved to see the babies. However, at least they are getting in!
I thought if I had a Web Site, it would make it easier for people like these Swedish people to contact me. I have an American lady and her 10 year old daughter arriving on 8th May for the same reason and she has asked me to find the woman who found her daughter in the street in July 1994. That is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack but I will give it my best shot.
Las week, someone left a girl (around 2 years of age) outside the Orphanage gates at midnight - just dumped her and left. I am still undicided as to her mental capabilities - but I think she is pretty good - only time will tell.
If you or anyone can help me set up a web page, I will be eternally grateful. |

Very funny, maybe you could also be adopted by a rich American family? |

Rhonda,
Here are three fast, easy, free sites to help you do make your website:
www.bravenet.com
www.freewebs.com
www.modblog.com (this is more of a running journal but it is very powerful and does a lot of work for you!)
And
www.thefreesite.com if you want to add some free bells and whistles to your site--graphics, menus, whatever.
Also, don't forget to include metatags, these are keywords you prefer to use when people are searching for you. The above sites can show you where to write them. If you say something like "China orphanage" it's just too general. Give unique, easy-to-remeber information! When you are looking for a needle in a haystack you need a magnet!
You want to name your site something short, simple (to spell and remember), but also unique, so it will come up on the first (or second) page of Google when people are looking for it. For example, I ran your name into Google and I got "Rhonda's Place, the Raunchiest Girl on the Web". Something you're not telling us? Zhangjiagang Orphanage has a lot of entries and frankly is too difficult to spell for a title, but it could be a metatag.
Good luck! |

Hey Gorgeous!
Not a problem... If you want me to build a HTML template for you, that's won't be a prob.
Secondly, you'd want a domain name; preferably a TLD (Top Level Domain). EG .com .net .biz .us etc.
Thirdly, webspace and providers.
Damn I'm getting bored just writing this so I can't begin to feel what it's like to read it...
If you want me to build it, I can. Just send me everything you want on the site, give me two weeks and a lot of coffee and it'll be on the web.

<PS It's gunna be a lot smaller than mine. It's taking forever to sort mine out...> |

Thanks very much, but I think Nolefan beat you to it! He was quicker off the mark than you were - I will wait and see what he has to say. |
